PERSONAL INFORMATION:
Mavis has served as a Pupil Personnel Worker in Montgomery County Public Schools for the last eight years.Her other educational work experience include being a classroom teacher in middle school and high school, high school administrator, and educational evaluation specialist.
She is also actively involved in the National Education Association. At the state level, she chairs the Maryland State Teachers Association’s Human and Civil Rights committee which focused on dropout prevention this year with the theme "School Connectedness = Dropout Prevention, It’s everyone’s responsibility". As a member of the Montgomery County Educational Association Board of Directors, Mavis has worked in her local union to advocate for the rights of students and their families.
PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS:Mavis has a B.S. in Psychology from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee; a Master’s Equivalent in Educational psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and a Master’s in Educational Administration and Supervision from Bowie State University-Maryland.She is also a Maryland State Department of Education certified Pupil Personnel Worker.
